Writing Projects

It’s a new year, and here I am struggling to plan my next book. The good news is, I have an idea. I have characters, I have a basic plot, I have a setting. I even know how the story ends. Now we come to the bad news. Planning the thing.

I’ve always had so much trouble with writer’s block. I believe it was Philip Pullman who said there was no such thing. All I can say is, he hasn’t met me yet. I had this idea for a trilogy last year. I was really excited about it and as far as I can tell, no one else has had this particular idea before me. No, I’m not going to divulge any details. I don’t want to jinx it. So there I was with my three books. I knew how each one ended and roughly the direction the series would go, but when it came to doing a chapter outline . . . Well, I know I’ll get there eventually. I go through this with every book I write, and I’ve never yet failed to come out the other side. In fact, the only book it didn’t happen with was Sacrifice. I just sailed through that one. I guess if I get really board, I could edit my latest stand alone book (more about that in future entries).

Speaking of Sacrifice, it received it’s first five star review. I’m really chuffed.

In other news, the covers for the two Hand of Destiny books are under production. I can’t wait to see these released as ebooks. Not least because everyone who’s been clamouring for the sequel to The Appointed will finally stop badgering me.
