So many authors are asked what their favourite books are, which authors influenced their work or which books they would recommend. Here is a selection of my favourite titles that currently have pride of place on my bookshelf. Perhaps they’ll give you some inspiration if you’re stuck for a good book to read. Assuming you’ve already read The Appointed, of course!
The Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling
If there is anyone out there who hasn’t read this truly wonderful series, then where have you been? This series was my introduction to fantasy fiction. It shaped my reading tastes. I’ve often felt they changed my life.

The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer
This deeply compelling story caught my imagination from the opening page. It is an epic love story told over four books. I lost many nights’ sleep over them as I was unable to stop reading, but I don’t begrudge a single one. The Host is also well worth a read.

This series reached its conclusion in 2009. I wanted to wait until all the books were available before recommending them. Dark and magical, with fantastic characters, heart-stopping action and beautiful descriptions. This series is a treasure.
