Sacrifice

Having just seen the release of Sacrifice as an ebook, it seems only fitting that my readers should know how it came to be written. You can find out more by visiting the books page on my website.

A friend of mine described it on Twitter as “A vampire story with a difference”. I like that. It’s catchy, and more to the point, it’s true. Though Sacrifice was inspired by a vampire series (can you guess which one?) I didn’t want to write another vampire/human romance. I wondered what would happen if the vampire was in the human’s power for a change. Since as predators go, vampires are at the top of the food chain, I think humiliation would be the strongest emotion.

I had enormous fun writing my vampire hero Lysander. Well, he’s more of an antihero really. One of the hardest things was his appearance. I’m blind, and I write using a speech software programme. Having no sight at all, physical appearances mean absolutely nothing to me, but they mean a lot to my sighted fans. I take a good deal of care with them, but I tend to forget what my characters look like as soon as the book’s finished. Still, I think I did well with Lysander. I scared myself anyway (not that it takes much).

I’m looking forward to watching the effect my vampire has on the world. I won’t reveal any spoilers about his story, except to say that those expecting to meet another Edward Cullen will be in for a shock. Happy reading!
